Frequently asked questions

Is there a free plan?

Yes. Korin Start is free, with no card: two bank accounts, your balances, transactions, categories, two budgets, this month vs last and every subscription you pay. Thrive adds Ask Korin, safe to spend, alerts and help cancelling.

Does Korin ever see my banking password?

No. Your connection is set up through Akahu, an accredited participant in New Zealand's regulated open-banking system, independently certified to ISO 27001:2022. Korin receives the financial data you authorise, never your login details.

Can Korin move or spend my money?

No. Access is read-only. Korin can't make payments, transfer money or change anything in your accounts.

Do I need a card for the free trial?

You add a card to start, but you're not charged during the 30 days. When the trial ends, your plan begins, monthly or yearly, whichever you chose. Cancel any time, including during the trial.

Which banks can I connect?

Personal accounts with ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Kiwibank, Westpac, The Co-operative Bank, Heartland, SBS Bank and TSB. Business accounts aren't supported yet.

Is there an app to download?

No download needed. Korin runs in your browser on any phone or computer, and on WhatsApp.

Do I have to use WhatsApp?

No. The website does everything on its own. WhatsApp is there for when it's quicker to ask than to open a browser, and it's where alerts and the Monday brief arrive if you turn them on.

Can I get my data into a spreadsheet?

Yes. Download your transactions as Excel, CSV or PDF any time, or connect one of the apps on the Integrations page and Korin keeps it up to date.

Is this financial advice?

No. Korin gives automated financial information and cash-flow guidance based on your own transactions. It doesn't recommend financial products and doesn't replace licensed financial advice.

How do I disconnect or delete my data?

Any time, from Privacy or Accounts. You can disconnect a bank, remove single accounts, or delete your whole Korin account.
